Shares of petroleum producers and natural gas producers moved up today. Brazilian oil giant Petrobras (NYSE: PBR) rose about 1.8%. The NYSE Arca Oil Index (XOI) gained about 0.58%, while the NYSE Arca Natural Gas Index (XNG) rose about 0.25%. The Philadelphia Oil Service Index (OSX) moved up about 0.57%.

Shares of Burger King Holdings Inc (NYSE: BKC) jumped about 24%, after private equity firm 3G Capital announced its intention to buy BKC for $4 billion or $24 per share, including the assumption of debt.

Shares of Nordstrom Inc (NYSE: JWN) rose about 8% after the company reported a 6.3% rise in its same-store sales for the month of August. Analysts expected a rise of 5.9% in same-store sales. The S&P Retail Index (RLX) is up by 3.74%.
