Energy stocks turned positive after falling for two consecutive weeks. Crude oil futures also moved up. The top gainers in the list were Helmerich & Payne (NYSE: HP) and First Solar (NASDAQ: FSLR). The NYSE Arca Oil Index (XOI) rose about 0.9%, while the The NYSE Arca Natural Gas Index (XNG) gained about 1%.

US Airline stocks moved up along with the wider market. The stocks that gained the most in the list were US Airways (NYSE: LCC), JetBlue Airways (NASDAQ: JBLU) and Continental (NYSE: CAL). The NYSE Arca Airline Index (XAL) rose about 1%.

The US Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLF) represented the most weak sector in the S&P 500 Index by gaining just 0.1%. The top performers in the list were Regions Financial Corp (RF), Fifth Third Bancorp (NASDAQ: FITB) and KeyCorp (NYSE: KEY).
