Leave It To The States To Decide

As the debate drags on over health insurance, the only concept that congress can agree on is that there is no agreement among the two parties. That is why legislation this polarizing should be left up to the states to decide.
Massachusetts decided for themselves on this issue; the commonwealth enacted socialized health care into law in 2006 and no one can argue with that but a Massachusetts citizen, as it should be. However, good luck balancing the budget in years to come, and don’t come asking for help when you’re bankrupt. But the point is, the system is designed to leave issues like the health care overhaul up to the states.
On the contrast, this polarizing legislation is working to be imposed on all citizens across all state lines, backgrounds and beliefs, which is morally wrong. Why should a citizen from a free-market capitalist state such as Texas be subjected to the terms put forth by a Chicago democrat in Washington D.C.? This goes against everything Texas believes in and the citizens are overwhelmingly opposed to the health care bill, but still those on the left are trying to jam it down their throats.
The philosophy behind this kind of thinking is rooted in freedom. As Milton Friedman said, citizens should be allowed to “vote with their feet,” meaning, they can live where they want and be able to escape economic tyranny by moving to a state more aligned with their ideals. On the flip side, if this health bill were to get passed, all U.S. citizens would be forced to comply with the beliefs of left wing extremist such as Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Barack Obama, and there would be no where a citizen could escape such radical legislation. The fact is, our nation is very diverse and full of many varying opinions, and you cannot command all citizens to comply with such a dividing issue. This national health bill runs in direct contrast to freedom and our country's founding philosophy.
