Rahm Emanuel May Be On The Way Out
London's Daily Telegraph newspaper is reporting that Democratic insiders are saying Rahm Emanuel, the Obama Administration's chief of staff, will leave his post shortly after the mid-term elections.
Differences in style between the President and Emanuel may be one of the reasons for the potential departure. Reports also indicate that Emanuel is frustrated with the inability of the White House to "knock heads together" to fashion political compromises.
The Wall Street Journal is speculating that if indeed Emanuel is headed out of Obama's administration, it may be in part because he had advised the President to trim his health care plan. The chief of staff lost this argument to David Axelrod, the White House's chief strategist, and Valerie Jarrett, an old Obama friend. The bill eventually passed.
Emanuel has shot down the rumors about his imminent departure. "This is B.S.," the sharp-tongued Rahm Emanuel said in a statement, according to Politics Daily.
In an e-mail to CBS News, he was equally as blunt: "As I would say this is bs or as the english like to say baseless."
