CNBC's Darren Rovell
thinks
it might be a possibility. Magic Johnson recently sold his stake in the Los Angeles Lakers, a team he used to play for in the 1980's and 1990's. Since then, Johnson has had many business ventures and jobs, including night shows, broadcasting, and the most important, Magic Johnson Enterprises, which is estimated to be worth around $700 million. Speculation has come up after Johnson sold his stake in the Lakers about what he would do next. The Detroit Pistons, Atlanta Hawks and possibly the Magic are up for sale. The Pistons appear to be off the table, as Mike Illitch is in negotiations to take over the team. The Magic may make the most sense, as the team is owned by Richard DeVos, who is 84 years old,as Rovell points out. The team recently built a new arena, and the team has been up for sale for years, but nothing has materialized. With Magic selling his stake in the Lakers, this could be a prelude to a Magic-Magic tie up.
