Chinese authorities have stated that they are ready to punish the hackers responsible for attacking internet giant Google’s (NASDAQ: GOOG) operations. However, they said that they would need concrete evidence against the hackers. They also said that Google (GOOG) has not filed any formal complaint as of yet.

China’s Vice Minister of Industry and Information Technology, Miao Wei said, “If Google has had evidence that the attacks came from China, the Chinese government will welcome them to provide the information and will severely punish the offenders according to the law." He also said that Google did not inform the ministry about its withdrawal from China.

Google has claimed that the hackers are based in China. However, China has denied the accusation and has called the claim “groundless”.
