LinkedIn's vice president of talent solutions and careers Daniel Shapero pointed out in the company's blog post that job hopping has nearly doubled over the past two decades and this trend is accelerating.

To make it easier for people to find a career they can stick with, Shapero used internal data to put together a list of the "Most Promising Jobs of 2017," which aggregates salaries, strong job openings, year-over-year growth and the jobs most likely to lead to a promotion or advancement.

Here is Shapero's list with the median base salary in parenthesis:

1. Hospitalist ($222,000): Top skills required include healthcare management, inpatient care.
2. Pharmacist ($123,000): Top skills required include medication therapy management.
3. Sales Engineer ($80,000): Top skills required include solution selling, sales management.
4. Site Reliability Engineer ($140,000): Top skills required include Linux, Python, Bash.
5. Product Manager ($97,500): Top skills required include product development, competitive analysis, product launch.
6. Financial Analyst ($64,000): Top skills required include accounting, Microsoft Excel, financial modeling.
7. Technical Program Manager ($129,000): Top skills required include agile methodologies, software project management.
8. Program Manager ($97,400): Top skills required include project management, project portfolio management.
9. Data Engineer ($105,000): Top skills required include Hadoop, Python, SQL.
