Wining may not get you many gifts from Santa, but it could save you a penny or two!

It’s no secret that the holidays are associated with the “wow, I wish money grew on trees” mentality. Consider the expense of travel, gifts, perhaps new attire for the office Christmas party, decorations and even an increased electric bill thanks to that light display that makes Times Square realize it has met its match. The National Retail Federation found that holiday spending continues to increase year after year and that last year, on average, shoppers spent just under $1,000 during the holiday season. To be exact, adult shoppers ages 18+ average $805.65 on gifts, greeting cards, food and decorations and complete, on average, 50 percent of their shopping online.

For $3.99 at Fresh Thyme, this pour tastes of blackberries and currants and has a firm texture.

Found for $2.99 at Trader Joe’s. Dry with a fairly dominant fruit flavoring.

This medium bodied wine has a blended taste of citrus and pineapple. Found for $4.99 at Fresh Thyme.

Many stores, like Kroger Co KR and Fresh Thyme offer additional discounts such as a percentage off when you buy a certain number of bottled wines. Whole Foods offers 10 cents off of your purchase when you bring your own grocery bag.

While it is important to note that prices may vary depending on a store’s locale, with the high quality taste of these wines, you sure would be fooled into thinking they are high-priced.
