In the midst of a very successful Olympics for Team USA, Hillary Clinton decided to add a little patriotism to her speech on economic and labor plans at the Futuramic Plant in Warren, Michigan, on Thursday.
Clinton related Donald Trump's message of fear to the recent success of Michael Phelps and Simone Biles, both of whom have represented United States athletes exceptionally well by earning gold medals over past few days.
"If Team USA was as fearful as Trump, Michael Phelps and Simone Biles would be cowering in the locker room, afraid to come out and compete," Clinton said to a cheering Metro Detroit crowd, referencing Trump's questionable plans to build a wall on the Mexican border.
The Democratic nominee may have also been regarding Phelps' locker room game-face before Monday night's 200-meter butterfly semifinals, which has since gone viral.
With the Olympics in full swing, it's never a bad idea to infuse some U.S. patriotism into a speech, especially when it can be used against the opposition. Although Clinton's analogy between Team USA and Trump doesn't hold any impactful value, it certainly gave a Detroit and national audience a nice laugh.
