Timing is everything. This applies to even for something as inane as entertainment. Orlando, the "theme park capital of the world," has a myriad of attractions. Chief among these are Walt Disney Co DIS's Magic Kingdom and Comcast Corporation CMCSA-owned Universal Studios Florida.

Conducive Economic Backdrop

The economy is up and running and consumers are willing to open up their wallets. Latest data from the Bureau of Economic Analysis showed that the personal savings rate, which is personal savings as a percentage of disposable personal income, edged down two-tenths of a percentage point to 5.4 percent in December.

Even as affordability is looking up, one must learn to exercise prudence in spending. This idea is encapsulated in a proverb by Chinese philosopher Confucius — " He who does not economize will have to agonize."

To save you the agony, Benzinga looked at the ideal time one could visit Florida's biggest theme parks from the cost perspective.

Disney's Value Day Bargain

  • Disney's Magic Kingdom costs you $99 per ticket for value buying and $107 during regular days. Peak day ticket sales price was $119. Those of you who purchase three-day or longer tickets online get to save $20.
  • A two-day ticket with one park per day costs $199 for people 10 years and older.
  • For the same two-day visit with Park Hopper option, which lets you visit all four theme park, the ticket price is $506.
  • Through the four-park magic ticket, one can get one admission to each of the four theme parks for four days. But the catch is that you cannot enter the same park more than once. This has to be used within 14 days of first use or by May 26. This costs you a mere $69.

Universal's Differential Pricing

  • For Universal Studio, a one-day value season ticket costs $155 for an adult. This pricing allows us to visit all listed parks any time of the day. If a single park visitation is sought, the pricing is $105 for an adult.
  • The peak day pinch applies to Universal Studios also, as it charges $169 per person for visiting all listed parks any time each day. A one-park visit costs you $119 on these peak days.
  • Universal studios is also offering a $20 saving off the gate price on all multi-day tickets when bought online.
  • Universal promoted on its website a limited period best value offer, which allows for a limited period purchase of a two-park, two-day and Universal express unlimited ticker. On top of this, two extra days free is also up for grabs.

Thus, it is seen value day visits works out cheap for visitors, while peak day visits are the most expensive. Disney has got each month divided into value, regular and peak days with an 8–11-month calendar available for viewing online. This helps in planning our visit so that we are not left with deep holes in our pocket.
