Brokerages are recognized as some of the most innovative players in the financial technology space.

To gain more insight, Benzinga spoke with John Hart, Director of Trading Products for TD Ameritrade AMTD, to learn about new tools being rolled out for traders.

Company Profile Sharing

TD Ameritrade has received much acclaim for dynamic models on the most popular stocks, which allow users to build valuation in a similar manner as analysts. For example, users can adjust growth of iPhone sales for several years to see how they impact the value of the stock.

Hart explains the new functionality, “We have added sharing to it, so after you have gone in and spent all this time creating a model for Apple or creating a model for IBM, you can hit the share button, just like you can on a chart, and share out your model for that company.”

Not only can other users see the model, but they can change different estimates.

Drawing Alerts

Chart drawings are nothing new. Alerts from drawing, on the other hand, are a different story.

Hart explains: “After you have created a drawing on the chart, you can right click on that drawing and tell it to create an alert.” Whenever price crosses the level drawn on the chart, “you will get an alert pushed to your phone, email, SMS and all the normal alerting messages that we have.”

This feature is especially beneficial for traders who have a specific strategy, but don't want to entirely automate the system. With alerts, the trade can be made with just a few clicks.

Mobile Trading

TD Ameritrade sees more mobile trading volume than any other brokerage at almost 15 percent of trades.

At the beginning of August, TD Ameritrade will be rolling out a new order system, giving users access to the entire suite of advanced trades. According to Hart, competitors have simple options, such as a stop loss, “but they wouldn’t want you to do that on options or multi-level options. Our interface will actually work with option strategies,” said Hart.
