10 Stocks Moving In Today's After-Hours Session

Shares of Genocea Biosciences Inc GNCA gained 94.96 percent on Thursday trading, reacting to the announcement of positive results in a Phase 2 clinical trial that evaluated GEN-003 for the treatment of genital herpes. After the bell rang, the stock continued to surge, but entered negative territory around 4:40 pm EDT, trading down more than 11 percent.

Another big decliner on Thursday’s after-hours session was Marriott International Inc MAR, which was trading down more than 5 percent after the Wall Street Journal reported that Chinese firm Anbang Insurance Group had decided to walk away from its proposed acquisition offer for Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc HOT. Shares of Starwood, the operator of Sheraton and Westin hotels, were also trading down, about 4.3 percent, on Thursday afternoon.

Yet another stock tumbling on Thursday’s after-hours session was Primo Water Corporation PRMW, which was down more than 3.3 percent, in what seemed like a correction of the 6.66 percent surge seen during the day – which some analysts believe was driven by a Zacks article that explained “Why Primo Water (PRMW) Isn't Done Growing Earnings Yet.”

Also experiencing a correction in after-hours, although one in the opposite direction as Primo Water, was U.S. Auto Parts Network, Inc. PRTS, which rose more than 2.7 percent since the market closed, correcting the 3.03 percent decline witnessed over the regular trading session.

Other stocks moving in Thursday’s after-hours included:

  • Inovio Pharmaceuticals Inc INO, down 2.4 percent
  • Provident Financial Holdings, Inc. PROV, up 2.2 percent
  • Southern National Banc. of Virginia, Inc SONA, up 2 percent
  • Higher One Holdings, Inc ONE, up 2.3 percent
  • Cenovus Energy Inc (USA) CVE, up roughly 0.9 percent
