Shares of Newfield Exploration Co. NFX were trading up more than 16 percent on Monday’s after-hours session, on what seems to be no particular news. In fact, the surge looks like a correction of the 5.77 percent decline that the stock experienced over the day, even in spite of the fact that Imperial Capital initiated coverage on the stock with an Outperform rating and $27 price target, which implied an upside of more than 7 percent from Monday’s opening price of $25.19.

Another stock registering big moves since the bell rang was Teck Resources Ltd (USA) TCK, up almost 11 percent in what also seems like a correction of the 9.95 percent tumble seen over the regular trading session. It seems like the tumble was triggered by Barclays’ downgrade of the stock from Equal-weight to Underweight and the reduction of its price target from $11.00 to $4.00.

In the Nasdaq exchange, the largest gainer since the market closed seemed to be Relypsa Inc RLYP, up more than 9 percent after the company announced “results from Phase 1 in vivo studies in healthy volunteers evaluating potential drug-drug interactions between Veltassa and 12 drugs administered either at the same time or three hours apart.”

Among the biggest losers of the afternoon, investors can count:

  • Primero Mining Corp PPP, down about 3 percent.
  • NGL Energy Partners LP NGL, down roughly 2.8 percent.
  • Banco Santander, S.A. (ADR) SAN, down approximately 2.7 percent.
  • Habit Restaurants Inc HABT, down more than 1.5 percent.

Disclosure: Javier Hasse holds no positions in any of the securities mentioned above.
