Holiday Tipping Guide

We deal with tipping on a daily basis. Not only do we tip waitresses and waiters, but we also tip everyone from our hairdressers to valets. However, the holiday season adds a new tip expectations that may cause some people distress.

Who do we tip? How much is expected or is appropriate? CNBC has a 2009 holiday tipping guide to assist with these difficult decisions, while shinning light on what is customary.

The guide recommends that you give housekeepers and babysitters a week pay as a Christmas bonus and teachers should get a small gift that is not in the form of cash or gift cards, which can come across as trying to buy your students' grades. You should also tip mail carriers approximately $25 and give FedEx and USP delivery personnel a small gift.
