IATA Forecasts $5.6 Billion Net Loss For Airline Industry In 2010
December 15, 2009 2:22 PM
International Air Transport Association (IATA) has reported that it expects the global aviation industry to make a net loss of a $5.6 billion in 2010.
This is higher than the previous forecast of a $3.8 billion loss, owing to the rising costs and the low yields. However, IATA has added that the worst is over for the industry and the demand is expected to improve. This is bound to elicit mixed reactions from the airline companies like Delta Air Lines, Inc. (NYSE: DAL)(FREE stock trend analysis) and Southwest Airlines Co. (NYSE: LUV)(FREE stock trend analysis).
