Health-Care Reform Bill To Cost $940 Billion; Critical Vote Likely On Sunday

Today the Congressional Budget Office released numbers for the health-care reform bill that is pending in the House of Representatives.
The CBO estimates that the bill will cost $940 billion over the next 10 years, and will reduce the deficit by $130 billion over that same timeframe. Supporters of the bill in the House view the new numbers as promising, and anticipate a close yet successful vote in the House on Sunday.
Republicans remain firmly opposed, but recognize that the bill has a good chance of passing as things stand now. Several key Democrats, including Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio), have switched their stance in favor of the bill, and plan to vote 'yes' on the measure.
Health insurers remain opposed to the current health-care reform bill in Congress and have vowed to continue to oppose the measure. President Obama has vowed to sign the bill into law if and when it becomes approved by Congress and lands on his desk for his signature.
