Fewer State Prisoners in the US
March 17, 2010 10:34 AM
Believe it or not, the number of state prisoners within the country has finally ebbed, which has not happened since 1972.
However the drop was only 0.4%. Which prisons decreased the most in the number of those incarcerated? California led in the decline followed by Michigan and New York.
Despite the decline in state prisoners, federal prison populations increased by 3.4%.
The United States still has the title of the most incarcerations within the world, a trend that does not look to be changing in the near future.
