Democrats Lose Sen. Bayh

Democrats are losing Sen. Evan Bayh, D-Indiana, in an already tough time. The senator announced Monday that he will not be seeking out a third term due to the current operations (or lack thereof) of the Senate.
Specifically, Bayh said that "congress is not operating as it should." He went on to explain that the Senate consists primarily of partisanship and fails to address the needs of the people.
Democratic Senator Bayh gave the example of the Senate's failure to pass the recent jobs bill that would have reduced the deficit as an example of the flawed Congress. Overall, Bayh's departure is due to a broken political system.
Bayh's announcement accompanies two other democratic senators who will not be returning after this year: Christopher Dodd (Connecticut) and Byron Dorgan (North Dakota).
