Charles Akre to Speak at Value Investing Congress

Charles T. Akre, Chief Executive Officer of Akre Capital Management, will be one of the main speakers at the 7th Annual Spring Value Investing Congress, taking place at the Centurylink Center in Omaha, NE, on May 6 and 7. Akre has worked in the securities business since 1968. To this day, he is responsible for Akre Capital Management's investment advisory services and investment section. That's 44 years of financial experience. Before managing the Akre Focus Fund, Akre was the sole portfolio manager to the FBR Focus Fund from December 1996 to August 2009. According to the Value Investing Congress website, “[Akre] previously held positions as shareholder, Director, CEO of Asset Management Division and Director of Research at Johnston, Lemon & Co. (a NYSE member firm). Chuck established ACM in 1989 and for a time operated it as part of Friedman, Billings, Ramsey & Co., ending in 1999. In 2000, ACM again became independent, and established its current location in Middleburg, Virginia in early 2002.
