Internal Discussions At Fox Over Possible Conan O'Brien Show

News Corporation (Nasdaq: NWS) (Nasdaq: NWSA) chairman Rupert Murdoch, speaking with reporters during a conference call on Tuesday, said that his Fox network is having internal talks about offering former "Tonight Show" host Conan O'Brien a new late night program.

So far, the talks are just internal and Fox has not decided to offer a new show to O'Brien or even enter into negotiations with him.

One hurdle Fox would need to overcome is the resistance from many Fox affiliates to the idea of an O'Brien late night show.

It was an uprising of NBC affiliates that led to the Leno-O'Brien late night debacle in the first place and Fox will not want to go through anything like the turmoil that the General Electric Co. (NYSE: GE) subsidiary did.
