President Obama expressed his ire over a Supreme Court ruling on the issue of campaign financing rather strongly in his State of the Union Address, the New York Times reports.
While presidents have a history of not being in agreement with Supreme Court Decisions, most of them express dissent in written statements or perhaps news conferences. While Obama added the preface of “with all due deference to separation of powers” to his statement, his approach was quite direct in the presence of Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito among others. The issue related to the Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission case which Obama summarized in his speech.
