August 31, 2010 4:25 PM
Today the yen made large advances against the dollar and the euro, while the USD took a slide against virtually every major pair with the exception of a modest gain against the Canadian dollar.
The yen rose 0.65% against the dollar to 84.07, near its 15-year mark of 83.58, and gained 0.48% on the euro, moving to 106.63.
The dollar fell against almost every major pair, dropping 0.16% against the euro, 0.76% against the pound, 0.12% against the Aussie, and 1.09% against the Swiss franc. The USD managed to make a major move against the CAD, up 0.53% to 1.0651, but this is more representative of a weak CAD on the day.
The euro mostly held, going up 0.92% to 0.8262 on the pound.
