In
a phone interview with the Associated Press
, Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert accused the LeBron James of quitting the team at the time of the playoffs. Gilbert said it is “accountability time” for James. Gilbert mentioned, "He has gotten a free pass. People have covered up for (James) for way too long. Tonight we saw who he really is." He feels James had renounced the Cavaliers during their second-round series against the Boston Celtics, who had bounced back from a negative position to eliminate Cleveland. Gilbert disclosed that "He quit… not just in Game 5, but in Games 2, 4 and 6. Watch the tape. The Boston series was unlike anything in the history of sports for a superstar." And in game 5, the Cavaliers were beaten by 32 points as James seemed distracted and uninterested. Gilbert, who has owned the team for the past five years, expressed his disappointment at James' behavior over the last few months that lead to the announcement of NBA's MVP shifting to Miami to play with Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade. Gilbert also mentioned that James had not bothered to return any calls and text messages of the team and inform it of his decision since the last season ended. Read more from
