The US dollar finished higher Thursday vs. most major currencies with the exception of the New Zealand Dollar. Rumors of more Greek fiscal problems sent investors for safe-haven currencies.
The New Zealand dollar hit a two-year high against the euro on more worries about Greece's debt, holding firm against the U.S. currency on Friday. It reached two-year highs against the euro, after the reports on Greece lacking support from some eurozone countries.
The euro fell against the USD on the Greece worries and fell to a 17-month low against the Swiss franc after an official said interest rates cannot be ultra-low for ever. "We have signalled that we cannot continue this expansive monetary policy forever,"the Swiss National Bank chairman Philipp Hildebrand said.
