Twitter IncTWTR
is
adding a feature
that will allow users to embed Twitter videos on their websites. It's the same concept that YouTube and
Google IncGOOG
have used for years -- and it could have a big impact on Twitter's future. "I think Twitter's in the sweet spot," Sean Udall, CIO of Quantum Trading Strategies and author of The TechStrat Report, told Benzinga. "All Twitter has to do is what YouTube used to do [and] learn from the mistakes YouTube and others made." Udall said that Twitter is increasing ad loads but continues to keep them relatively light. At the same time he said Twitter is increasing the length of its videos. In the long run, he believes this will provide the social network with a huge opportunity for monetization. "I think video for Twitter will be very much like YouTube is for Google," said Udall.

10% Bump

Udall estimated that Google received a 10 percent bump from YouTube. He thinks that Twitter could experience a similar increase from its video initiative. "There's a huge monetization angle," he said. "They don't have to define themselves by one format." Some video types could be more profitable than others, however. "I think music videos redistributed over Twitter could be absolutely massive," said Udall. "If you look at all the artists, almost every real popular band has a following on Twitter. There's an interaction with Twitter and the audience." Music propelled YouTube early on. Even now consumers frequently turn to the service to check out videos from their favorite artists. Udall thinks that music is such a powerful and compelling draw that he believes it could actually bring viewers back to VH1 and MTV. "If they played videos, I think people would tune in," said Udall.

In addition to video content, Udall expects Twitter to benefit greatly from its
new partnership
with Google. He also expects Google to utilize Twitter to accomplish things that Google+ never could. Over time, that might bring the two companies closer together -- but Udall doesn't expect Google to ever make a buyout offer. "Could they take a stake in it, just like Apple could take a stake in it?" Udall questioned. "I think [Google] could." Disclosure:
