Why The Founder Of Hamzei Analytics Did Nothing To Play Tesla This Week

Fari Hamzei was a little disturbed by the action in Tesla Motors Inc TSLA earlier this week.

Hamzei is the founder of Hamzei Analytics, and he recently joined Benzinga’s #PreMarket Prep to explain how he played all the movement the stock has experienced starting off the week.

“It went beyond some of our parameters. Somebody really doesn’t like Tesla,” Hamzei said. “They got really beaten up, relatively speaking.”

The stock went below $205 but then made it back up above $215 -- a big day movement-wise, according to Hamzei. He said he doesn’t know if there was any news, but he really doesn’t care, either.

“I just worry about volume and price, because that’s what pays,” he said.

So what did Hamzei do to play Tesla this week? In short, nothing. He explained that there was too much going on in the futures to do it.

“If I had four hands and six eyes, yeah I could have done that,” he said.

Hamzei explained that he was trying to “catch a piano.” There was a good signal on his screen that his missed, and it just got worse and worse. He said he was trying to catch the upside on a buy.

He ended up being negative for Monday, but Tuesday was much better. He traded in very short spurts.

“I would trade and go to no bias. Trade, and go to no bias, and then re-evaluate again,” he said.

That ended up working really well for Hamzei, who said that trading futures is looking for nuggets.
