Claymore/NYSE Arca Airline (NYSE: FAA) is up 5.9% to $29.96, thanks to bullishness in airline stocks and a consequent rise in the fund’s underlying index.

iPath Global Carbon (NYSE: GRN) is being treated as a good play on the current climate negotiations in Copenhagen. Many investors believe carbon trading will receive a boost from agreements at the summit. GRN has risen 5.7% during the day to $27.20.

Another “trend is your friend” fund is PowerShares DB Base Metals Dble Long ETN (NYSE: BDD). These commodities are benefiting from the cautious global economic recovery. BDD is 3.75% higher on the day at $16.09.

A more specialist base metals index tracker, iPath DJ AIG Aluminum TR Sub-Idx ETN (NYSE: JJU), is seeing similar action to BDD. The aluminum fund is currently up 3.6% at $32.35.

Precious metals are also popular at the moment, thanks to a flight from more liquid assets. UltraShort Silver ProShares (NYSE: ZSL) has gained 3.3% today to $4.70.
