Waste Management, Inc (WM) recently released its 2014 Sustainability Report. The report titled ‘Creating a Circular Economy' provides detailed information about the company's initiatives toward improving its business operations. The report is comprehensive and focuses on improvements in the entire range of waste management activities such as recycling, energy production and transformation of waste into resources. One of the major initiatives of the company that got highlighted in the report is the reduction of waste by its customers to move toward zero waste program.

The long-term strategy of the company aims to create customized solutions towards waste reduction and educate customers with its recycling initiatives. The report recognizes the importance and volume of organic waste material and outlines Waste Management's move to extract value from organics by investing in processing facilities with new technologies that produce compost and biogas for fuel and electricity. Waste Management also plans to continue with the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by increasing natural gas fueling stations to power its growing fleet of alternative fuel trucks.
