Farewell for Now Benzinga
August 01, 2011 17:21 PM
It's been an awesome two and a half months, but it has come time for me to leave. As an intern I got to explore the exciting, fast paced, mulit-monitored world of news media. I learned about the forex, researched businesses, and came to see how the information we report can keep our readers ahead of the game.
Here the goal isn't to get a good grade or write filler until a page limit is reached, instead the goal is to tell an interesting and informative story. Our writing has a purpose here: to inform and enrich (hopefully literally).
Ive loved it here at Benzinga and the weeks have flown by. It seems like only yesterday I came in for an interview, wondering what I would be doing with my summer and worrying that I would not enjoy it. I wasted my time worrying; Benzinga has been exactly what I was looking for.
I learned a ton and had a blast. I got to know the other staff, settled in, learned how to research and write in a newsworthy style, I even have my work published online. Best of all, the whole time I was learning how a small business lives, breathes, and thrives. You can't buy an experience like this!
Now I must depart, leaving behind research, writing, and countless emails. I also leave behind the gong, the wonderful phone system, The Zinger, and all my homies (A shout-out to Jacquelyn. I spelled it right and everything!). I will soon be back at school, but another summer is on the horizon. We'll see just how long this site can be rid of me!
Adios from Intern Chris
