CNN hosted a meeting of five top-ranked investing pros. The panel comprised Susan Kempler, Portfolio manager for TIAA-CREF, Steve Romick, Manager of Crescent fund for First Pacific Advisors, Ron Muhlenkamp, Barry Ritholtz, CEO of Fusion IQ and
Jason Trennert.
Susan Kempler favored stocks with strong fundamentals. She picked Novartis (NYSE: NVS)(FREE stock trend analysis) for Novartis' attractive 3.1% dividend yield.
Jason Trennert picked L-3 Communications (NYSE: LLL)(FREE stock trend analysis), a defense contractor. According to Jason, L-3 Communications has an attractive valuation at 10X EPS and is cheaper than its peers.
Ron Muhlenkamp liked Pfizer (NYSE: PFE)(FREE stock trend analysis) for its 3.5%
dividend yield and 10% free cash flow.
Ritholtz recommended investing in silver ETF such as iShares silver trust (NYSE: SLV)(FREE stock trend analysis) to piggy ride gold moves.
Steve Romick also placed his bets on Gold to counter inflation.
