Capheid (CPHD) Granted Authorisation

William Blair believes that Cepheid (NASDAQ: CPHD) has the best combination of technology, approved products, management, and pipeline in the clinical molecular diagnostics space. The firm opines that these assets make Cepheid a prime near-term takeout candidate.

The firm said that Cepheid announced it has been granted Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its Expert Flu A Panel test. The test, which runs on Cepheid’s GeneXpert System, identifies the 2009 H1N1 influenza virus in less than one hour and as such is the first molecular test that has the ability to penetrate the hospital outpatient market.
