In a report published Monday, JPMorgan analyst Rod Hall maintained a Neutral rating on
BlackBerry Ltd.BBRY
, while mentioning that the company was likely to use Android on its new device. According to a Reuters article, "BlackBerry is reportedly considering equipping an upcoming smartphone with Google's Android software for the first time." The decision to switch to Android is likely to be part of the company's move to shift focus to device and software management. "It is not clear whether a move to use Android would spell the end of the company's BlackBerry 10 line of devices that were initially launched to much fanfare in early 2013," Hall stated. The management, in an email to Reuters, reaffirmed its commitment to the BlackBerry 10 operating system due to its "unmatched" security and productivity benefits. "At this point, we see a move like this as relatively minor for Blackberry. We see the BES 12 device management penetration as the real key to the turnaround of the company," the JPMorgan report added.
