Speaking to Benzinga, Morningstar Analyst Peter Wahlstrom said that there are rumors International Business Machines Corp. IBM will announce further divestments or even a split.
He explained that many are looking for IBM to follow in the footsteps of Hewlett-Packard Company HPQ by breaking up its components into different companies
“I personally think that it’s a bit premature, and I also think that separating IBM into the hardware, software and services components would be really challenging to do,” he said, adding that the end result might be two or three companies that are in a weaker competitive position than IBM is today.
Shares of IBM are trading 1.17 percent lower in today’s session.
