Paul Trussell of Deutsche Bank commented in a note on Wednesday that post-Cyber Week promotional activity increased “modestly” year-over-year among many department store retailers.

Here are some retailer-specific details:

  • Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.'s WMT post-Cyber Week focused on apparel and select brands, similar to last year's activity.
  • Target Corporation TGT focused on toys during its post-Cyber Week and offered buy one, get one 50 percent off promotions.
  • Kohl's Corporation KSS Post-Cyber Monday was similar to last year's with a 50 percent off event, but the company was incrementally more promotional with an Online Friends and Family day (December 10) with personalized email codes but fewer Doorbuster sales.
  • Macy's, Inc. M was slightly more promotional post-Cyber Monday with a Super Saturday 50 to 75 percent off store-wide event, compared to a 30 to 75 percent promotion last year.
  • J C Penney Company Inc JCP featured similar promotional activities in terms of discounts and lengths as it did a year ago but tweaked the event names.
