FBR Analysts Weigh In On Salesforce And Microsoft Partnership

After the market close on Thursday, salesforce.com CRM and Microsoft MSFT announced a strategic partnership in which they plan to create new solutions to integrate Saleforce.com's customer relations management apps and Salesforce1 platform with Microsoft Office and Windows.

"Working together we'll deliver new solutions that connect the customer insights of Salesforce to the cloud productivity of Office 365, the cloud platform of Azure and the mobility of Windows, so our customers can do more," commented Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella.

Marc Benioff, Salesforce chairman and CEO, added, "Together with Microsoft, we are building bridges that allow customers to be more productive."

Analysts at FBR Capital commented, "While the terms of the deal were not disclosed, we believe this partnership is strategically another nice step in the right direction for Microsoft... salesforce.com remains the pioneer of cloud computing and this potentially significantly expands Microsoft's cloud opportunity."

Looking at possible benefits for salesforce, the analysts believe that the deal will allow the company to increase its customer base and enable its users to be productive in any environment. Furthermore, the analysts see the deal as "yet another signal that salesforce.com has established itself as a force that has to be collaborated with by the traditional mega software vendors."
