Shares of Burger King Worldwide
BKW
are vastly outperforming shares of McDonald's
MCD
in 2014. The stocks are up 17 percent and 1 percent respectively. In a
video published to the Street
, Brian Sozzi explains why Burger King is “kicking the butt of McDonald's.” Burger King sales “actually went positive in the fourth quarter, despite horrible weather,” said Sozzi. McDonald's has had three months of negative sales. Sozzi believes Burger King's marketing is much more appealing. The ads for new product releases are “catchier” and “more emotional,” said the Belus Capital analyst. Consumers are lured by Burger Kings “yumminess perception,” which includes jalapenos and chipotle sauce on a turkey burger. While McDonald's is focusing on $12 hamburgers in Switzerland and make your own burgers, Burger King executives are keeping it simple, and it shows in the advertising, said Sozzi.
