United Parcel Service, Inc. (UPS) Reports A Solid Fourth-Quarter

Analyst John R. Mims at BB&T Capital Markets has released an update on United Parcel Service, Inc. (NYSE: UPS). The company reported solid results for the fourth-quarter.
UPS reported EPS of $0.75 for the fourth quarter, which is at the high-end of its EPS guidance range of $0.73-$0.75. The company reported revenue of $12.4 billion, a drop of 3% year-over-year. The company had EBIT of $1.3 billion, a 9% year-over-year drop.
According to BB&T Capital Markets, there were several encouraging trends in the quarter that may carry into 2010. The company also provided guidance for 2010. The company expects EPS to be in the range of $2.70-$3.05 in 2010.
Given the positive outlook for 2010, BB&T Capital Markets has raised 2010 EPS estimate from $2.60 to $2.90. However, BB&T Capital Markets believes that much of the earnings upside is already priced into the United Parcel Service, Inc. stock, and therefore it maintains a Hold rating for the company.
