Dahlman Rose & Co. is out with its weekly report on the metals and mining sector.

In the report, Dahlman Rose writes, "M&A activity continues in the metal and mining sector with Posco agreeing to buy control of Daewoo International for $2.8 billion. Posco will control 68.2% of the steel and oil trading company in an effort to expand its sales force internationally and gain further exposure to raw materials. With low interest rates and attractive raw material prices, we anticipate that M&A activity in the metals and mining sector will remain robust over the near-term."

Shares of SPDR S&P Metals and Mining ETF (NYSE: XME), which tracks this sector, are down 37 cents to $48.07.
