ATLS, BEXP, COG, CLR, GDP, SFY, SM, UPL, and WLL were the presenters included at Boston Energy Day. Jefferies says, “A key theme of Jefferies Boston Energy Day was negative Marcellus publicity. The Marcellus operators in attendance agreed that revised completion and water recycling measures should prevent problems and render moot new rules limiting dissolved solids in wastewater. “

“Also the Senate may lack the votes to include hydraulic fracturing under the Safe Drinking Water Act. Operator error may be responsible for isolated problems, but routine casing and cementing of water aquifers and nearly 100% recycling of water should address the main risk attributed to the play. Talk of permitting moratorium likely to go nowhere. Severance tax, however, is on the horizon, but should have little impact on Marcellus economics,” the analysts add.
