•    Staples, Inc.'s SPLS shares gained 6.2% following news that the private equity firm Sycamore Partners is in talks to purchase the company

•    Shares of Accenture Plc ACN declined 4% after the company projected its fiscal 2017 revenue to grow in the range of 6-7%, down from the earlier forecast of 6-8%

•    Tesla, Inc.'s TSLA shares increased 1.7% after the company declared that Tesla is in talks with the municipal government of Shanghai to produce vehicles in China
