Mercedes Benz USA (MBUSA) reported a 12.6% increase in sales from the previous year, selling 343 614 units, for a record year-end total. The luxury car brand has seen a spike in sales over the last couple of years and across almost all categories. Their passenger car category climbed 16 percent from 2012.

Known for their luxury cars, the fleet of smart vehicles now under the Mercedes brand contributed to their year-end success. Mercedes also added a lower-priced CLA Model to their line-up, starting at $29 000, which could be in part responsible for their growth in sales. Mercedes beat out Lexus, Audi and BMW for the most luxury car deliveries in the USA. This is the first time Mercedes has taken the lead in this category in over ten years.

Steve Cannon, president and CEO of Mercedes Benz USA, says that the success of their brand and record sales numbers can be attributed to the entire Mercedes product line as well as the fact that they’ve “brought the customer experience to an all-time high.” Craig Chaplick, supervisor of customer relationship management at Mercedes, has worked on addressing all glitches on the Mercedes website to ensure a smooth customer experience online as well.

Mercedes Benz is already gaining recognition for their 2014 fleet, complimenting their record-breaking sales. Business Car Magazine awarded the Mercedes S-Class Model with Luxury Car of the Year. Additionally their CLA-Class was runner up for Business Car of the Year and Mercedes was nominated for Manufacturer of the Year.
