Yesterday, Skype announced the release of a new update for its Voice over IP (VoIP) software to its Mac OS X customers. Skype 5.2 adds support for group screen sharing during a call. Screen sharing itself has been available during a one-on-one call in Skype for quite some time now and is a great way to share a presentation or get some tech help from friends.

One or more of the participants in the call must have a Skype Premium subscription, which will cost you $4.49 per month for a twelve (12)-month subscription. Having this subscription will also give you access to use group video calling features in Skype.

Skype has also added the ability to switch to another application you're running on your Mac and still be able to see the person you're talking to. You'll also have the ability to mute and/or hang up the call from the control bar of the little window that appears. Skype says that many users have been asking for this feature over the past few months.
