Last night, Apple CEO Steve Jobs proposed to the Cupertino, California City Council, Apple's plans to build a new campus in the city. The proposed campus will be built on a 98-acre piece of land that Hewlett-Packard (HP) owned up until last year when Apple bought it. The building will be 4-stories and will hold 12,000 Apple employees. A picture of how the campus will look once it's completed is above and if all goes as planned, the campus will be completed in 2015.

Jobs described the new campus as:

It's a pretty amazing building. It's a little like a spaceship landed. It's got this gorgeous courtyard in the middle… It's a circle. It's curved all the way around. If you build things, this is not the cheapest way to build something. There is not a straight piece of glass in this building. It's all curved. We've used our experience making retail buildings all over the world now, and we know how to make the biggest pieces of glass in the world for architectural use. And, we want to make the glass specifically for this building here. We can make it curve all the way around the building… It's pretty cool.

The new facility will be 80% landscape, with most of the parking underground. Apple plans to have over 6,000 trees and “some apricot orchards” at the campus as well. Apple plans to build a facility that is powered by natural gas, with an electricity grid as a backup.
